IMU. The inside out.
Former U-M basketball captain David Merritt is the CEO and President of IMU, established in 2009 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The official company launch was Friday, Sept. 4 at the U-M League Ballroom in Ann Arbor. Merritt grew up in West Bloomfield and played basketball at West Bloomfield High School before earning an academic scholarship to U-M. He joined the U-M basketball team as a walk-on his junior year after being turned down as a freshman and sophomore. He led the team as its co-captain last year, helping the Wolverines earn an NCAA tournament bid.
IMU’s very first community service event was a great success! Over 20 smiling faces and helping hands came to Green Baxter Court (GBC) Community Center in Ann Arbor, MI on Sept. 12. Volunteers painted, built shelves, made posters, cleaned, and organized! After completing those tasks, the entire group headed outdoors to do a complete site cleanup, picking up trash and sweeping up broken glass to help create a safe, clean environment for all residents. Fran Deering, GBC Director, was very pleased to see everything she had on her list was accomplished by the end of the morning. Thank you to everyone who came to not only support IMU, but more importantly, improve the Community Action Network and Green Baxter Court community!
