Project Runway star and Detroit designer Joe Faris has created a couture denim line called Motor City Denim. Faris’ denim is completely made in Michigan and he’s even getting some help from a local automotive supplier, TDIC of Sterling Heights. This well known supplier is known for making robot coverings and is now transitioning their state-of-the-art robot covering factory to a high fashion jean factory to help Faris achieve his dream. Faris’ jeans have a unique seat belt tag and even have red, white and blue American flag material as the pockets which can be seen from inside the jean.
Detroit, known as a manufacturing city, is the perfect place to manufacture clothing including couture denim and Faris is just the man to bring the jobs and the high fashion to our great city. If your wondering where to buy this Made in Michigan product, you’ll have to wait for it’s great reveal. Motor City Denim will be unveiled during Fashion in Detroit this weekend, October 22 & October 23, 2010 at Motor City Casino Hotel & Soundboard
