During the Summer months, my creams for sensitive skin regimen is just as important as it is during the Winter but wearing the right amount of SPF during Summer time fun and beach vacations, for me, is crucial. After I had my second child I realized I had spots of discoloration on my face and they seemed to darken after I spent time in the sun. After several visits to the dermatologist and hearing several of my doctor’s lectures, I realized my sunning habits and the lack of interest in wearing sunscreen was what was causing the discoloration on my skin above my upper lip, and along my jawline. What I have is called Melasma, and even though it’s more common after hormonal changes in a woman’s body once she has a child, Melasma gets worse when the skin is exposed to the sun’s harmful rays. After my diagnosis, I knew I had to make sure I wore SPF daily and start paying better attention to my skin.
Wearing SPF on a daily basis may seem easy to some, but I also recently realized I have very sensitive skin so wearing any old over the counter sunscreen isn’t easy for me. I’ve tried many and have exhausted the usual sunscreens due to experiencing severe reactions. If I’m not careful, moisturizers with SPF or common sunscreens will leave a burning sensation on my face along with unwanted redness and swelling. It’s clear I am allergic to an active ingredient in these products but I have yet to figure out what it is.
So with these concerns, you can imagine how hard it might be to find a moisturizer with an effective SPF that makes my skin happy. It’s also hard to experiment and venture out of my comfort zone (literally) after I find one that works well. But, with that being said, going for a shopping trip and stopping at the Estee Lauder counter at Macy’s with a friend while on vacation helped me venture out and find both a cleanser and moisturizer with SPF that works well for my skin. I even found a few other products that absolutely made my heart melt.
As a spokesperson for local brands, a beauty blogger, a Mrs. Michigan contestant and a business owner, my appearance is very important to me. I tend to wear make up everyday and need a good cleanser to take it off at night. I also need and a good moisturizer to put on my skin before I apply make up every morning. During my recent visit to Macy’s, I learned about Estee Lauder’s Perfectly Clean Cleanser and DayWear Moisturizer with SPF 15. I decided to try them and after a week of using them every day, I’ve found they both work well for me in my daily regimen and most importantly my sensitive skin.
I recently switched to these products while on a beach vacation in upper Michigan. My family’s plan was to be in the sun everyday and swim from sun up to sun down. It was the perfect time to try Estee Lauder’s Daywear Moisturizer with SPF 15. Even though I prefer an SPF of 25 or 30, I am pleased to say the SPF worked beautifully each day I was in the sun. I had no problems with the ingredients and was able to enjoy the sunny days with my family without experiencing irritated skin. The formula of the moisturizer is light and airy with a spa-like cucumber smell that makes me feel refreshed every morning. It’s the perfect answer after cleansing my skin with the 3 – in – 1 Perfectly Clean cleanser. The cleanser at night, removes all my make up, cleanses and tones my skin without having to apply a separate toner. When using the cleanser in the morning, it’s a soft refreshing foaming clenser that helps wake my skin up and leaves it feeling soft and supple before applying the DayWear moisturizer and my make up. For me, after all I’ve been through with my skin, these two products are little pieces of heaven and provide healthy glowing skin. I use the cleanser twice a day, in the morning and at night and apply the DayWear moisturizer before I apply my make up everyday. The products were perfect during a sunny vacation and now that I’m home, I’m completely hooked on using them each day.
Another great product I found during my shopping trip was Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess self tanning lotion. Having light hair and peaches and cream skin, I usually crave a sun-kissed look and self tanning lotions are the way to go. Not on the shopping list but a definite must have (and a last minute purchase because I had to have it) for the eyes is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum. Aside from a self tanning lotion, a cleanser and a moisturizer with SPF, every girl needs a good eye serum that reduces lines and wrinkles and hydrates the skin. When I saw the display I was completely drawn in by the digital album, being the tech girl that I am, and the nice display of the bottle. For a quick second I expected serum security guards to walk up behind me or motion sensors to go off when I picked up the display bottle. Ok, I watch too many James Bond films but being the beauty buff that I am, Estee Lauder really had my attention with this one. After using the serum for a week and a half, I pretty much think my regimen is set for a long time and with these new products of course. It’s never to late to protect your skin, treat the skin around your eyes or start a new skincare regimen. After shopping other brands and trying to find the right products that work for me, my Estee Lauder shopping experience brought me to new products I probably wouldn’t have tried before and re-introduced me to a beauty line I haven’t shopped in a long time. Looks like I’ll be a returning customer and will be visiting the Estee Lauder counter more often.
