Many of you don’t know I was once a swimsuit model & also did promotional modeling throughout the 90’s. Yes, my before baby body was a size 2 and my toned muscles sure did look great in my tan skin. The photographers always knew how to make me look even toner by having me suck, and tuck and twist with each pose, making me look like a chiseled size zero at times. I looked good and I knew it.
How did I do it? I worked hard. Real hard. I worked out everyday and barely ate, oh and um, no kids…there was that. But when I did eat, I stuck with protein and fruits and vegetables. I did feel good and looked my absolute best for quite a few years. Then a car accident nearly took my life and looking my best for the next swimsuit shoot on the beach wasn’t on my to do list, learning how to walk to the bathroom independently was. That task took me three months to learn. It was a time in my life that made laying on the beach posing in my best pose in a Venus swimsuit seem like a lifetime ago when really, life changed in one crash. In one incident, that life was quickly over.
Of course if you know me, you know this was a couple decades ago. A few years of life, a career and two kids later, that swimsuit body is now a little curvier and softer. The reason why I am bringing this up is because those of us who look into the mirror and “want to get that body back” (whichever body or size it was) realize the older we get the tougher it is. But, we can do it and I think we should do it together.
Since you are a reader of Glamorous Moms, then I know you also love the finer things in life. But lets face it, if we’re not healthy we’re not happy and we need to live a long time to watch our kids grow and enjoy the riches of life right along with them. All moms are glamorous in their own way. I’ve always said that. But don’t you also have photos you look back on? Are there pictures of yourself you stare at and wish that was you again? I’m sure I’m not the only one. To some, I may be fine or perfect or average. What evs. I know my potential, and I’m sure you can remember yours too.
I have made a lifestyle choice and I want to invite you to make that choice with me. I have chosen only protein and fruits and vegetables again with the help of Beach Body and Shakeology.
I replace breakfast and lunch with Shakeology shakes. I love putting bananas & strawberries in them or kale, spinach and honey. There are many other recipes but these I mostly stick to. I also add organic baked chicken breast to my plate during snack time and then baked organic chicken breast on a bed of lettuce for dinner. This is a typical menu for me, but sometimes I add and delete foods and change it up a bit. What keeps it fun AND what keeps my abs flat without a bloated feeling are the Shakeology shakes. They come in Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Greenberry, Tropical Strawberry Vegan or Chocolate Vegan. Personally I like them all. I use vanilla when I mix foods with them and I drink the chocolate shakes when I have that “I need sweets” urge. The chocolate flavor makes me subconsciously feel like I’m cheating when really I’m winning!
