For the next twelve months, peplums will mostly be seen on skirts of all lengths giving a little extra va va voom to our womanly curves.  For the hair, all types of sparkly hair accessories will be acceptable to jazz up the do in a youthful yet ornamental way. You won’t even have to comb it to get the perfect 2012 look.  Just finger style your hair into a messy low pony and wear your favorite blinged out  headband or  decorated hair pin.

As far as make up, frosted glosses and shimmery lipsticks will be out and bright matte looks will be all in throughout the year.  Expect to see darker colors early on and brighter hues closer to Spring.

The over-sized blue clutch may be an Ipad clutch but it can also be worn during a day out on the town .   The size here is the key component (no more common designer wristlets please unless you’re eight and are going shopping with your friends).  The metallic shoes and over-sized earrings are my favorites. It seems I cannot get enough of these two these days and Iam looking forward to collecting more for the new year.  The great thing about metallic shoes is they go with absolutely everything and will never look dated.  The earrings? Well, the bigger the better for any occasion is the rule!

Capes will be hot this year all the way into Spring. They will especially look fabulous with opera length leather gloves for those chilly days (not pictured but a true necessity in my eyes). Next on the list is floral jeans. I know you’re not used to wearing this much of a floral pattern at once but I encourage you to try it and let go of any inhibitions against floral patterns.  If worn right, they can look cute on just about anyone.

Color blocking will be very common in 2012.  Plan on wearing the lighter color on top and the darker on the bottom for a slimming effect.  Great color pairs to consider are pink & red, teal & navy blue, black & white and orange & hot pink.

I’ve been asked by a few local publications to give my advice on what to wear for the big night ahead. I’ve also enjoyed helping my close friends figure out exactly what type of dress to wear and how to wear hair their hair and make up for their big night. I can honestly say, I’m not sure what is more fun….dressing my friends or dressing myself. Oh. Wait. The answer is dressing my friends! By far!

Below, I have put together my favorite to share with all of you.  I don’t expect you to duplicate each item but hopefully this set will give you a feel of what pieces look great together. I’m a big fan of old Hollywood glamour.  Mixing old glamour and new glamour with a couple great accessories is a fun way to welcome 2012.  From the smokey eye to the Tiffany blue clutch each piece below was carefully chosen to help you look glamorous as you bring in the new year. The only two things missing is a glass of champagne and a cheek kiss by your loved one, but that is yet to come.

Listed below is a list of five “must have” accessories to brighten up your wardrobe and lighten the stress of over spending.

• Bold colored satchels, purses, & clutches.  Spring colors this year are bold, bright and beautiful.  Be sure to buy a color that fits into your current color scheme, like non-matching to be exact!  Make a statement with your bold choice, if you don’t, your defeating the whole purpose.
• Chunky heels with woven or braided leather should be worn as much as possible.  Choose a neutral leather that can be worn with more than one look and make sure the shoe has cut outs, a peep toe, slingbacks or all three.
• Statement jewelry with an Aztec feel, natural colors and natural stones.  Statement pieces have been on the mark for a few seasons now, this Spring, hit your mark with geometric shapes and a tribal vibe.
• Wear vintage sunglasses.  If their the real deal and they are too big for your eyes than they are perfect!  If your pocket book doesn’t allow you to splurge on real vintage, than make sure they are over sized and big, big, big! Choose what you like, cat-eye, round or square, it really doesn’t matter.
• Blushes and lipsticks that scream NEW!  Are these accessories you ask? Well sure they are and this Spring the main two things on your face should be a bright orange/red lipstick and a bright peachy pink blush and your ready to go.  Both look best with a neutral, naked eye.  There’s nothing fresher in Spring than soft pretty make up with a “to die for” complexion.  Carry your new shades that brighten up your look in your new bold clutch.  You’ll be feeling new all over.
