The models of the fashion pre-show will be dolled up by Black Salon of Royal Oak and Sarah Jane Regan will be there also to meet and greet her fashionable guests.  Sarah Jane Regan is a designer that is known for her eclectic style and  the ability to deliver a wow factor with each design. She is eager to bring out your “inner Sarah Jane” with each creation and has been hitting Detroit’s fashion world by storm.

Malcolm created this contest to help change the perception of our state of Michigan and to bring positive awareness to the exceptional men of our state.  Those who are eager to make a change, give back to their communities and make a positive and memorable statement everywhere they go.  Last year was the first year of the Man of Style contest which brought in over 300 entries from all over the state of Michigan. Each entry was culturally diverse and well deserving of the grand prize.   After the entries were carefully considered, a total of 25 semi-finalists were chosen.  They were chosen and decided upon based on their answers to questionnaires regarding chivalry towards women and community service involvement. The contest was so successful, it raised awareness for over 60 local non profit organizations. All which were featured during the contest and rightfully showcased at the gala. 

Being the first year for the contest, we are proud to tell you over 350 guests attended the selection gala in 2009.  With such an impressive record for the first year, it’s safe to say this year’s contest, which will be held this November,  is sure to be greater, as supporters from across the state  join Malcolm and the entrants as they anxiously wait for the winner of 2010′s William Malcolm Man of Style & Substance contest to be announced.  Finalists will be asked several questions by an esteemed panel of professionals regarding their philanthropy services and community efforts. One outstanding winner will then be announced and will receive a $15,000 prize package including a vacation for two to Mexico.

Being such a trendy and fun spot on Michigan’s map, Royal Oak is the perfect place to hold this years event. Over 500 performers applied for the event and 200 were selected to entertain the crowd.  Headliners such as Macy Gray, Clint Black & Saving Abel will also be singing this year along with local entertainers including  our  fav’s, The Mydols and the Killer Flamingos!

Usually the selection of food is always a fan favorite at the annual Arts, Beats and Eats and this years line up is sure to make your stomach growl!  Guests have 53 restaurants to choose from including D’amatos, California Pizza Kitchen, The Melting Pot, Cafe Habana and last but not least, our most recent obsession, What Crepe. 

After listening to some good tunes and eating from Detroit’s best eateries, visitors will be able to shop and enjoy the art fair. Whether it’s ceramics, leather,  graphics, glass, photography or fabric and fiber, downtown Royal Oak will have it all displayed for you.

The shop has teamed up with the Ocean Conservancy, a national organization dedicated to helping protect our oceans, to sell “Ocean” watches for $24.95, with 40 percent of proceeds being donated.

The watch is available in small and large dial sizes and in 16 colors. “The Ocean Conservancy is a wonderful organization to partner with,” said Cindi Rottermond, owner of Rottermond Jewelers. “Not only are customers thrilled with the variety of colors available, but they feel compelled to give back at such a critical time for our oceans.” More than $3,300 has been raised already during the promotion, however, it’s Rottermond’s goal to reach $10,000 by Oct. 16, when the promotion ends.
