Kristina and her team provided hair designs for Thakoon, Jason Wu, Jill Stuarte, Rodarte, ADAM, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Monique Lhullier and Theyskens’ Theory.  The team’s hair styles could be seen on the actual runway and were styled to match the over all looks of the designer’s Spring 2012 collections.

“Theory was my favorite”, says Kristina.  The hair at the Theory show was down and wavy with a straight part down the middle.  The hair was very ruffled and textured, very beachy and was created only with fingers.  Brushes and combs were not used to create the sexy look.  Monique Lhullier runway hair was very classic and sleek.  The models wore high ponytails that were teased to give movement.

“Many of the shows had ready to wear hair.”  ” The styles that were created are easily transferrable from day to night and perfectly resembled the Midwestern market.” – Kristina Marra

The Figo Team used Kerastase products including a new product called Fibre Architecte.  Fibre Architecte is a heat and seal product that is heat activated.  ”It’s great for turning over processed hair new again”, explains Kristina. Fibre Architecte will be available to purchase at Figo Salon at the end of October.

Willis has attended New York Fashion Week three years in a row and has just recently returned from the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2011 show.  Though a busy week which included high fashion, celebrity sightings , late party nights and skipped meals, she was able to come back with great  fashion advice from the NYFW runways.  

When we asked Willis about the common trends in the Spring shows, she said she noticed, “a lot of 70′s inspired clothing”.  Wide legged bell bottom jeans, ruffled dresses, wrap dresses,  and wide legged trousers which were common among the many designers that showcased their Spring designs this year. The most popular colors for Spring, according to Willis,  are mustards, oranges and electric blues.  She even advised those colors were seen everywhere including on manicures, accessories and makeup not just in the clothing.

Apparently, prints will also be common this Spring.  Mixed matched prints to be exact,  in flowy and drapey fabrics, which is perfect for women who like to feel pretty and feminine.  Moms who shop for clothes to cover their  post pregnancy curves will benefit from Spring fashions since, wraps and draped fabrics will be in. 

We also asked our fav Detroit blogger what her top five favorite shows were during her whirl wind of a week and this is what she said, with her favorite listed first.

1. Monique Lhuillier- “This show brought me to tears.  Lhuiller’s show had the best music and ambiance,” she says.  You can see from the photo above, how exquisite Monique Lhuillier’s gowns really were.
2. BCBG – “I liked the simplicity,  BCBG’s collection is wearable and perfect for the everyday person.”
3. Tracy Reese – “Very girlie”, she exclaimed.  “Reese’s collection was very 70′s inspired showing tons of wide legged trousers, Jackie O glasses and vibrant colors,” exclaimed Willis.   She also shared a little  secret with us.  If you’re looking for a show with alot of celebrities, Tracy Reese’s show might be the one your looking for.  Reese’s audience included hot celebrities such as Carmen Electra,  Angela Simmons and Kelly Osborne.
4. Georges Chakra - Chakra’s dresses were, “fun to watch”, she says.  Georges Chakra specializes in red carpet dresses and elegant gowns with feminine details and flattering lines.
5. Jill Stuart – “Jill Stuart usually shows her designs offsite in an auditorium instead of a tent. Stuart’s collection was very classic with flowy fabrics featuring  black and white combos.”

But, the hustle and bustle of the models, make-up and last minute design changes are finally slowing down and coming to a close for designers like Ports 1961, who rocked the runway last Thursday and Zac Posen, who surprised his fans with a morning show (instead of an evening show), just yesterday.

Two more days  left but definitely not for the weak.  The astute audience in New York get to see what Tory Burch has to reveal tomorrow along with Nanette Lepore and Anna Sui.  To end the week with a bang, Calvin Klein Collection, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, all designers that have set the standards for this event, will be able to the show their fans yet another “new” clothing line for all to love.

It’s no secret Bryant Park has hosted New York’s Fashion week for nearly sixteen years.  But, the time has come where park officials are ready to bring the park back to laid back park goers, allowing them to enjoy a skating rink in the winter and 8 acres of the main lawn in the summer. 

It seems as though Fashion Week has outgrown the park with such a  large fashionable crowd. A crowd that has consistently grown over the last few years, and the event may be better suited for Lincoln Center Damrosch Park, starting next year.  Lincoln Center has 16 acres of performance venues and public spaces to offer the Fashion Industry, leaving alot more room for designers and guests to work with.

The move isn’t planned until September 2010, allowing this September and February events to happen successfully. Afterwards, designers will be packing up and moving to their new home, Lincoln Center Damrosch Park, located at the southwest corner of the Lincoln Center Plaza, at 62nd Street, sitting peacefully between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.
