The Village of Rochester Hills La Femme Fashion Show Recap

Posted on 26 August 2012 by Shannon Lazovski

The Village of Rochester Hills La Femme fall fashion show held at Meadow Brook Hall on Thursday, August 23rd,  was absolutely stunning.  As the emcee, I have to admit, the venue was  beautiful, the weather perfect, the crowd both receptive and pleasing and the overall experience was one to remember.

Shelleen McHale, Director of Marketing at The Village and representatives of Meadow Brook Hall have been working for months pulling the evening together and I absolutely loved being a part of the event.  Retailer managers from The Village pulled clothing from their stores and styled each of their models back stage. The show had a nice mix of professional models and local beauties that were scouted during the Detroit Fashion News / Village Model Casting Call back in early August.  Men, women and children featured in the show wore new fall clothing and accessories specific to each brand.

Below you’ll find the order of the show and a description of what each retailer brought to the runway.

Chico’s: Chico’s opened the show with three models each wearing Chico’s version of fall denim and fringe.  If you are a fan of Chico’s and want to know what’s knew in their stores this fall, check out their fringe skirts, suede duster with fringe, slimming bootcut denim and their slim leg denim.  All displayed in the show with scoop neck tees, animal print tanks and statement jewelry in a variety of colors and bold metals.

Francesca’s: Francesca’s was second in line and they really pulled off some fun and colorful looks for the season.  Francesca’s displayed cowboy boots with a few of their fun day dresses, lace and sheer button downs, pleated skirts and colored denim which is a big trend this fall.  Many of their outfits had hints of neon, especially in the accessories.

Buckle: Buckle is well known for their many styles and shades of denim.  Dark denim was a big hit during the show by all the retailers and Buckle was right on target with their dark denim.  Each jean was a perfect fit and all a darker wash which was not only youthful and fun but classic too and exactly what Buckle fans like about their store.  During the show, dark denim was displayed with lots of mix matched printed tops and scarves including stripes and floral prints.  Many of the Miss Me and Rock & Republic denim had plenty of embellished pockets.  One jean that really stood out was a teal skinny jean which is color and style that is also big this fall.

Ann Taylor: Perfect for a day at work or an afternoon tea, Ann Taylor’s classic designs featured pretty bows, zipper detailed day dresses, calf hair cross body bags and accessories, cropped pants and tweed blazers.  All of Ann Taylor’s looks this fall are classic and timeless.

Apricot Lane: Apricot Lane featured a mix of dressy and casual designs both for day and evening.  Being the latest addition to The Village, Apricot Lane did terrific job holding their own in the show.  Top features from this retailer were hi low hem dresses, embellished tops & day dresses, faux fur vests with pockets, dark denim and snake skin prints.

Eddie Bauer: Eddie Bauer is known for their casual looks but you’ll find they add quite a bit of preppiness mixed with sporty styles.  A wardrobe that is quite versatile,  the new fall collection from Eddie Bauer is great for active lifestyle and for parents on the go.  Top clothing items featured during the show were cardigan sweaters, soft-shell jackets, twill shirts, straight leg jeans and down shirts.  Eddie Bauer specializes in clothing for both men and women and featured clothing perfect for most outdoor occassions.

Gap: Gap’s fall fashion was stunning during this show.  The kids stole my heart.  The line up began with a model wearing dark wash skinny jeans, a white button down and a red belt and red ballet flats to match.  The “boyfriend” shirt is a fan favorite and Gap did an excellent job creating a comfy yet feminine design for the ladies. Many of the main looks during the show consisted of dark denim in different cuts and styles, slim khaki’s, blazers and warm cord fabrics saturated in color.  Gap Kids collections were also featured with the most adorable local kid models Rochester has ever seen.  Gap Kids offers lots of color including hints of pink, brown, grey, leopard print and plenty of blue and white from their uniform collection.  Other collections consisted of the Icon Collection, Casual Collection, Bryant Park Collection and the Sapphire Collection.

Banana Republic: Banana Republic always takes a classic approach.  During the show they featured great “work” styles perfect for those fresh out of college and those well into their career.  Pencil skirts are hot for most retailers and Banana Republic has the perfect design when it comes to the pencil skirt.  Great for both work and date night, their pencil skirt is a versatile piece. Dark straight leg jeans and slim fit non-iron button downs for the guys and trench coats with leather trim for the ladies were featured as well.  Also new is the Banana Republic tailored fit suit for men.

Parisian: Parisian carries many different designers but Karen Kane was their main focus for the evening.  Debuting her new prints and colors for fall, the new Karen Kane collection featured a very sophisticated peacock print, stripes, and a mix of fall colors including rust, camel, burnt red and deep orange. Karen Kane carries the same color scheme throughout most of her fall collection.

At the end of the show, a finale of pink looks were featured from each retailer to celebrate the La Femme theme. If you are looking for fall clothes and are ready for a new look or just want to add new pieces of clothing to your current wardrobe, head to the Village for your favorite fall must haves.  There is a whole new world of fall trends waiting for you!

Posted on 26 March 2012 by Shannon Lazovski

The Village of Rochester Hills Spring Fashion Show at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan featured new Spring arrivals from ten retailers of the Village of Rochester Hills including; Francesca’s, GAP, The Buckle, Eddie Bauer, Moosejaw, Chico’s, Parisian, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, Banana Republic, and more. The main focus on the runway were individual retail Spring arrivals and trends.  Many of the ensembles displayed pastels, flower patterns, color blocking trends, trench coats, colored jeans and fun accessories. Each of the retail stores involved in the show had its own Spring flair. A bonus show by fiber artist, fashion designer and celebrity stylist, Cynthia LaMaide, wowed the crowed  by starting the show (which she also styled) with her hand-made collection.  Each piece was made by Cynthia herself specifically for the Rochester show.

If you missed the show and would like to see the collections click  here for a photo gallery of the Spring Fashion Show held by the Village of Rochester Hills courtesy of Olga of DSP Fotographie .

Here’s a recap of what each retailer shared on the runway.

Cynthia LaMaide: Long, flowing one and two piece dresses handmade by Cynthia who weaves, knits, felts, marbles and hand paints each silhouette.

GAP: Brightly colored skinny jeans and leggings, nautical stripes, floral patterns and colorful mini skirts.

Parisian’s Karen Kane:Signature black wrap dress that every Karen Kane fan adores and floral prints and blouses with cut out shoulders.

White House Black Market: Surprisingly they displayed lots of bright colors and floral patterns in corals and pinks with a few black and white basics for old times sake.

Ann Taylor: Traditional high quality, sophisticated, chic style. Many fun, bright colors. Great for the country club crowd.

Banana Republic: Hip fashion for the younger crowd. Stylish and clean, classy looks that can be professional or casual.
